http://www.euronews.com/ Syrian government forces continued their bombardment of the flashpoint city of Homs on Monday, according to activists on the ground. They claimed the suburb of Khaldiyé had faced continuous bombing for at least a week. Although euronews cannot independently verify the claims, one activist described in an amateur video released on Monday how his group was being hit at an average of four shells a minute. The video, purportedly filmed in the last 24 hours, shows black smoking rising over many of the city's neighbourhoods. Activists said at least five people were wounded on Monday. As the fighting continued, US President Barack Obama and Russia's outgoing President Dmitry Medvedev acknowledged at a meeting in Moscow that their two countries were still at odds over the Syrian uprising. Although Moscow has backed a UN-Arab League peace plan, Russian officials think the onus is on Syrian rebels to end the bloodshed. Meanwhile Turkey and Norway both closed their embassies in the Syrian capital Damascus on Monday. Find us on: Youtube http://bit.ly/zr3upY Facebook / euronews.fans Twitter / euronews
