House of Caiaphas at the Armenian Church and the Stone From Jesus Tomb! Joel Kramer, SourceFlix.

The Armenian Church on Mount Zion began to be built in 1975, but was never completed. Below the church are the archaeological remains of the house of Caiaphas, the high priest who interrogated Jesus before His Crucifixion. We were invited to take a look while with Joel Kramer, SourceFlix as the site is officially closed to the public. We very quickly looked around, I took more pictures than film sadly! After seeing the excavation site under the church, Joel showed us the remains of a Byzantine Church mosaic floor. Throughout Joel’s tour authentic biblical sites were commemorated by synagogues, temples and churches from different time periods, built on top of authentic sites. This Armenian Church allowed us to view an artefact that they greatly revere, hidden behind a red curtain, they allowed us to see and photograph a stone from the Tomb of Jesus. The original Tomb of Jesus site was destroyed many times over the centuries. The Armenian Church records that they have in their possession an original stone from the Tomb of Jesus, seen in the pictures under an ornate structure! In the Church of the Holy Sepulchre it is the Armenian Church that protects the Crucifixion site behind a huge red curtain. This site is in the apse of the church, always used to identify the specific location of biblical events!    • Ossuary of High Priest Caiaphas and Pontiu...   The Ossuary of Caiaphas explained by Joel in the Israel Museum.
