A day after China imposed an additional 34% "retaliatory" tariffs on American imports, US President Donald Trump threatened Beijing of an additional 50% tariffs. The US is already levying 54% tariff on Chinese goods — 20% existing tariffs and 34% "retaliatory" tariffs imposed by Trump on what he called 'Liberation Day' on April 2. China hit back at these additional trade tariffs by increasing equivalent tariffs on Washington, which will come into effect on Thursday. But now, Trump is threatening Chinese President Xi Jinping with an additional 50% tariffs, on top of the existing 54%, if Beijing doesn't roll back its new tariffs by the end of day on Tuesday. However, Beijing too, is refusing to back down, and has vowed to "fight to the end". But what will a trade war between the US and China mean for global trade?
