Eye Contour Tutorial - Matte Finish | Shonagh Scott

We contour our faces to enhance their shape, so why not try it with your eyes! This is perfect for a day when you don't fancy wearing much makeup but still want to look like you made an effort! I love to do this for a natural, sultry feel. You can play around with the contour placement to give the illusion of a different eye shape, much like we do with contour on the face when we are sculpting our cheekbones, or adding shadow down the bridge of the nose to make it appear smaller. You can even do this on hooded eyes, you just need to adjust to placement to work with your specific eye shape. Matte browns/taupes work best when it comes to disguising a fold on a hooded eye. Adding contour to the area that overlaps at the corner will help to 'push it back' so it's less obvious to the naked eye. Anything that protrudes forward, such as a fold of skin, will catch the light and make it more obvious, therefore, when you put a darker eyeshadow on it (and in a matte finish) it will counteract this issue and make the eyes appear less hooded.
