David vs Herod: Who Are You Living to Please?

Conversely, we see Herod, a ruler paralyzed by the fear of man, who silenced the voice of truth, which is John the Baptist, to save face in front of his guests. The lesson for us is clear: a "good" life is not one without sin, but one that refuses to hide sin; we must have the courage to listen to our conscience and care more about God's truth than the approval of the crowd.
