The houses of 267 people have been completely destroyed. Due to this, a loss of more than 31 crores has been reported so far. The famous Tarna hill of Mandi city has now reached the verge of collapse. Big cracks have appeared on this hill. Narender Rana, a local from Mandi said, “Due to heavy rain on Monday we heard crackling sounds from our house. When we went outside we saw the road here was completely cracked. The cracks became so big that trees in that area started falling. When a landslide happened last year, we wrote letters to the Committee here. But no action was taken.” Akashdeep Sabharwal, another local said, “Due to landslide a lot of houses have been damaged. Some people have left their homes. We talked to the Commissioner of Mandi to take action with the hope that landslides can be tackled.” The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan).
