Cheri Monastery, Thimphu. Hike to Cheri Monastery @Kingdom of Bhutan ###Man Bir Rai &bVijay Gurung

The monastery is located at the north of Thimphu valley on the hilltop. It was built in 1620 under the commandment of Ngawang Namgyal, the first Zabdrung and the unifier of Bhutan. Zabdrung Ngawang Namgyal spent three years in strict retreat in Cheri Monastery and spent rest of his life in this monastery. From Thimphu city, its 20 KM drive up untill the base point of Cheri Monastery and after the we have to hike up to the hill for minimum of 50 minutes to discover this beautiful monastery.
