Criminal Ring Targets the Most Vulnerable at LA Grocery Stores and Retailers

The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department says a South American retail theft group is targeting vulnerable people, including the elderly, at grocery stores and retailers across Southern California. Unfortunately, the story hit close to home when my own mother was targeted at a Westlake Village Costco. She describes what happened and what the criminals were caught on camera trying to do with her stolen credit cards minutes later. Detective Lopez, who is on the case, says she plans on issuing a bulletin Monday to warn others. Costco said no comment. I asked if these guys were Costco members, or what the chain plans to do to keep people safe given the fact their cameras don’t cover the entire store. We saw no security even after two of these similar crimes happened within one week at the same Costco location. No reply.
