USA ENTERS WAR AGAINST IRAN: Trump Sends B-2 Bombers - Bunker Buster GBU 57 to Nuclear Facilities The USA intervened in the recently escalated conflict between Israel and Iran and attacked key nuclear facilities in the Islamic Republic on Sunday night. President Donald Trump said in a speech at the White House that the facilities had been "completely wiped out." The goal was to stop Iran's nuclear threat. Iran condemned the operation as a violation of international law and requested a special session of the UN Security Council. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres spoke of a dangerous escalation, while the Israeli government thanked Trump for the attack. A few hours later, Israel was again the target of Iranian missiles. According to media reports, there were several strikes, including in Haifa and Tel Aviv. In his speech, Trump called on the leadership in Tehran for peace, but also warned of even more far-reaching consequences. "Either there will be peace, or there will be a tragedy for Iran that will be far greater than what we have experienced in the past eight days." The conflict between Iran and Israel escalated at the end of last week. Since then, mutual attacks have been ongoing, which, according to the respective governments, have left hundreds dead in Iran and about two dozen in Israel. Several high-ranking military officials and nuclear scientists were killed in Iran. Efforts by Western states to defuse the conflict have so far been unsuccessful. However, Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul expressed cautious optimism on Friday after talks between the foreign ministers of Germany, France, and Great Britain and their Iranian counterpart. According to Trump, the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan facilities were targeted. He told Fox News that the partially underground facilities at Fordow had been hit with six bunker-busting bombs. Tomahawk cruise missiles were used on the other nuclear complexes. According to information from the Reuters news agency, B-2 stealth bombers were involved. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) stated that it had no indications of increased radiation levels following the US attacks. The Iranian Atomic Energy Agency had already stated before the IAEA that there was no danger of radioactive contamination around the attacked sites. The Iranian agency confirmed that the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan facilities had been attacked. It criticized this as a violation of international law and stated that it would not allow the development of the nuclear industry to be halted. IRANIAN FOREIGN MINISTER: "OUTRAGEOUS" The dispute over Iran's nuclear program has been simmering for decades. The West accuses the Tehran leadership of pursuing nuclear weapons under the pretext of the civilian use of nuclear energy. Iran denies this. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi responded sharply to the US attacks. His country reserves all options for self-defense, Aragchi stated on X. The American attacks are "outrageous." The minister threatens that the attacks will have "lasting consequences." He does not provide details. According to Israeli media, Iranian missile attacks on Israel shortly after the US attack resulted in multiple hits. The state broadcaster Kan reported ten hits. Other media reported impacts in the port city of Haifa and the metropolis of Tel Aviv, among other places. #usa #iran #war #weltnetzreporter Subscribe to the WELT Netzreporter Channel / dienetzreporter WELT News Channel / weltvideotv WELT DOKU Channel / weltdoku WELT Podcast Channel / weltpodcast The WELT News Livestream http://bit.ly/2fwuMPg The top news on WELT.de http://bit.ly/2rQQD9Q The media library on WELT.de http://bit.ly/2Iydxv8 WELT News Channel on Instagram https://bit.ly/IGWELTTV WELT on Instagram http://bit.ly/2X1M7Hk On a personal note: Due to the high volume of irrelevant and offensive posts, we are currently unable to accept any more comments.
