MELT IN YOUR MOUTH TAHINI & HALWA COOKIES, (NO EGGS & BUTTER, VEGAN) Hello, welcome! 🌞 Pls support me by liking/sharing/subscribing; thank u 💗    / @dessertonomy   My dad is a fan of tahini desserts. Anytime I make a snack with tahini, he is pleased. He also has a favorite place where he buys tahini buns from time to time. I had some tahini halva at home and decided to use it in cookies for my dad to snack on during his coffee break. Tahini cookies is one of the beloved types of cookies in Turkiye. Adding tahini halva enhances the tahini flavor. Plus, halva pieces turn into chewy bits which adds a great contrast with the tender cookie. I know it doesn't look fancy but I assure you it is packed with flavor, especially if you love tahini. This is a very simple, easy to make cookie recipe that comes together quickly. Shaping is also no fuss. Besides being dairy & egg free, it is a vegan recipe as well. I hope you try & like it as well. Bon appetit 😋 Recipe adapted from Nefis Yemek Tarifleri (Makes 22-25) 120 ml oil (I used olive oil) 120 ml tahini 40 gr icing sugar 60 gr cornstarch (aka cornflour in UK) A pinch of salt🧂 235 gr flour 5 gr baking powder 165 gr tahini halwa, crushed into small pieces (I used bigger pieces first but had to crush them further to shape the cookies easily.) INSTRUCTIONS In a medium bowl, mix the oil and tahini until homogeneous. Add the icing sugar and mix until no big lumps remain. Crush the big lumps if needed. Add the cornstarch and mix until no big lumps remain. Don't aim for a smooth mixture, small lumps are ok. Crush the big lumps if needed. Add the flour, baking powder, salt and mix until you obtain a soft but non-sticky dough. Add the halva pieces and mix until fully combined. Divide the dough into pieces roughly the size of a pin pon. Squeeze them as shown in the video and place them on your baking tray. They'll spread a little so place them apart. (I had 24 cookies.) Bake in a preheated 180 C oven for 12-18 minutes. (Mine took 15 minutes.). They'll crack and become golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking tray: The most important step: Don't touch the cookies until they are completely cooled down. They are too soft when hot, almost melted but they become harder during cooling down. Bon Appetit :) NOTES📝: You may need more or less flour than the recipe indicates. Start with 200 gr flour and keep adding 1 tbsp at a time to get the consistency in the video. You can add 0.5 cup roughly chopped walnuts for adding crunch. You can add 90 gr dark chocolate for an extra flavor. You can add 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon which I think goes well with tahini. Keep in an airtight container or jar.
