After holding an emergency meeting, the Democratic Party of Korea called for high military alertness... and referred to the government's response to the nuclear test as "prompt." The ruling party called for cooperation in overcoming the security crisis. The main opposition Liberty Korea Party also held an emergency floor meeting condemning the North's provocation, calling it "intolerable." The conservative party criticized the Moon administration for seeking dialogue with the North Korean regime. The minor People's Party also denounced the move, saying Pyongyang's nuclear capability is becoming a real threat... and asking the Moon administration to react sternly. It said begging for dialogue is now out of the question. The splinter conservative Bareun Party also said the "rules of the game have changed," calling on the Moon administration to change its North Korea policy. The progressive Justice Party also condemned Pyongyang's provocation... but said the path to dialogue should remain open. The defense committee at the National Assembly on Monday will receive status reports detailing North Korea's sixth nuclear test... and the intelligence committee too will convene a similar meeting on the same day or the next.
