The Miami Dolphins need a win over the lowly 2-13 Patriots and a Buffalo loss in Houston to win the AFC East and claim home field advantage. Scott Lockwood, an 8th rd pick out of USC would have 123 yards rushing on 30 carries to keep New England close. He had 165 total yards rushing in his entire career. Jeff Carlson, the Patriots starting QB on this day, was terrible. In his 3 career starts (1 for tampa, 2 for NE) he threw 2 TDs and 9 INTs. Still, the Patriots would be driving for the go ahead FG in regulation to pull off a shocking upset win, until Carlson takes a sack that would've made Matt Ryan proud. The Dolphins do hang on, the Bills do lose in Houston, but as the Bills did in the early 90s, they easily beat Miami and moved on to their 3rd straight super bowl.
