You know that from the very beginning, before the military operation, the Russian side was in favor of achieving the conditions of the Russian side through peaceful diplomatic negotiations and means. Now, what can be said? We will wait for the incumbent president to change his position or wait for a future Ukrainian president who would revise his stand in the interests of the Ukrainian people." ++BLACK FRAMES++            ASSOCIATED PRESS ARCHIVE: Moscow - 23 December 2021 3. And achieving peace without fulfilling Russia's conditions is absolutely impossible. Many ideas deserve attention, but as for holding referendums, of course, the residents have already expressed their opinion." ++BLACK FRAMES++ ASSOCIATED PRESS ARCHIVE: Moscow - 23 December 2021 5. SOUNDBITE (Russian) Dmitry Peskov, Russian Presidential spokesperson:          "(Asking about whether Putin will sign treaties making the four regions of Ukraine part of Russia today) There is such a chance. They will be here soon, most likely they will be signed today." ++ENDS ON SOUNDBITE++ STORYLINE:     The Kremlin said Tuesday that it was potentially waiting for a new "future Ukrainian president" more sympathetic to Russia's conditions to begin peace talks. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said if the current President Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not agree to talks that ended in "achieving the conditions of the Russian side", any resolution to ongoing fighting would be "absolutely impossible". The comments came after Zelenskyy signed a decree ruling out any direct talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Peskov also commented on the announcement that Putin was expected to sign ratification treaties to complete the process of absorbing four regions of Ukraine, even as intense fighting continues to rage in those areas. Putin signed treaties to annex parts of Ukraine into Russia on Friday, September 30th, 2022. The signing ceremony came after the completion of Kremlin-orchestrated "referendums" on joining Russia in the four regions of Ukraine: Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, that were dismissed by Kyiv and the West as a "sham." Speaking of the treaties, Peskov said "They will be here soon, most likely they will be signed today." =========================================================== Clients are reminded: (ii) they should check with the applicable collecting society in their Territory regarding the clearance of any sound recording or performance included within the AP Television News service Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork Twitter:   / ap_archive   Facebook:   / aparchives    Instagram:   / apnews   You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
