Today the universal church celebrates the feast of the Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord took three of his disciples James, Peter and John to the top of Mount Tabor where He transfigured himself showing his face like the sun and his garments, white like light and conversing with Moses and Elijah representing that He is the fulfillment of the law and the prophets. Along with that a voice also descended from heaven saying, “This is my beloved son with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him.” He showed them the glory of his divinity which was hidden in the body of his humanity. It is a visible sign that our Lord Jesus Christ is not one of the prophets but He is the only Son of God, the Messiah and the King of eternity. It is the visual manifestation of God's kingdom on earth which shows His majesty and glory. This feast of Transfiguration is a reminder for all of us Christians that God will be with us till the end of the ages as he has promised and He is the one who gives us the strength to courageously battle all the struggles and persevere in fulfilling the purpose and mission for which He has called us. Dear friends in Christ Jesus, today as we celebrate the feast of Transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ, let us not be discouraged by our sufferings and pain, but focus on Jesus, so that we may persevere in fulfilling the purpose or the mission for which He has called us. Amen.
