The Queen has used her Platinum Jubilee message to the nation to set out her wish for the Duchess of Cornwall to become Queen Camilla. In the hugely significant intervention, Her Majesty has expressed her “sincere wish” that Camilla will be known as Queen Consort when the Prince of Wales becomes King. There was debate in the run up to Charles and Camilla’s wedding, 17 years ago, over whether the then-Mrs Parker Bowles would one day become Queen.
