Pdf N or L suffix is used to make reflexive verbs. Reflexive suffixes are new words actually. So there can not be exact rule for L or N. People just memorize new words in all languages, but this is easier to guess in Turkish. Giymek =to wear Giyinmek= to get dressed (reflexive verbs can not take object) Etek giy = wear skirt (true) Etek Giyin =get dressed skirt (wrong) reflexive suffixes are mostly opposite letter of passive voice. Mostly L is for passive voice and N is for reflexive suffix. Example Görülmek=to be seen (passive). Görünmek=To seem (reflexive). Passive voice has exact rule so that, normally add -L to make passive voice but if verb ends with L such as BiL it is hard to pronounce it with one more L so that BİLİL. So it is easier to say N instead of L. Same thing is for vowel ending verbs such as OKU but it is hard to pronpunce it with L such as OKULUYOR, but it is easier to use N so that OKUNUYOR. (Also for reflexive suffix if it ends with vowel or L suffix will be N) but it is mostly N anyway for reflexive. So you can understand if it is passive or not from the sentence’s meaning. So that Araba yıkandı = the car was washed Kız yıkandı = girl took a bath
