It's wild that Amazon still has not updated its Android application to include a proper dark mode option. ~~~~~ Hi! Old Version of the Amazon App - https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/amazon-... Video Description ~~~~~~ If you've ever decided to check on a product at Amazon while you're in a dark environment You've probably been blinded by the application still not having a proper dark theme on Android. And even when Google puts in the effort to add to force a dark theme on all of your apps Amazon has gone out of their way to ignore feature and block its app from being rendered with a Dark Theme. But there's actually a few ways to force Amazon Android to be displayed with a black theme. They all come with some drawbacks, though. So let's take a look at our options. . . #android #amazon #android15 #android16 Color Inversion Method The easiest and most common method is to enable the Color Inversion feature within Android's Settings app. So look for the Accessibility menu. And then look for the color inversion option. Depending on which firmware you have installed, sometimes this feature is tucked away behind a Color and Motion menu. But you could also just do a search for the word inversion and that will bring it up pretty quickly. Enable the feature, and it will invert every color that is displayed on the screen. Downgrade the Amazon App Earlier in the video, I mentioned that Android has a force-dark theme feature that's built into the OS. It's actually tucked away within the hidden Developer Options menu And labeled Override Force-Dark This toggle works great to make a lot of unsupported applications finally be displayed with a dark theme. It doesn't always look the best. But in most cases, it's better than the alternative. The downside to this option, though, is that Google actually lets the developer opt-out of this feature. Which seems backwards, if you ask me. But yes, Amazon was made aware of this and has added this flag into their own application for Android. The good news here, though, is that they actually forgot to include the flag in a specific version of the app. So if you don't mind using an outdated version of the Amazon app, then do this. Go and uninstall the Amazon app. Then download version 28.9.2.100 of the Amazon application I highly recommend you pull up the Amazon app page from within the Google Play Store and then make sure that you disable automatic updates. This way, your downgraded version of the Amazon app doesn't get updated with the rest of your applications. And you can see, once the toggle is enabled within the Developer Options menu You can render the Amazon application in a dark theme just how you would expect. The main downside here, is that you're using an old version of the application. But this will work for those who only need to browse products with the Amazon application. Amazon on the Web Even though Amazon does not have a dark theme built into the website. . .we can still use a trick within Chrome to do this work for us. The process is much easier than using an older version of the app. . .and you can still make purchases as well. This method works by first bringing up the Chrome application And then loading the chrome://flags page From here, search for the word dark and you should end up seeing a hidden feature labeled Auto Dark Mode for Web Contents. Tap the drop-down menu, and then select the option labeled "Enabled with Selective Inversion of Non-Image Elements" This works similarly to the color inversion feature of Android, but it's only for websites And setting it to this option will actually ignore all of the images, since it's only inverting non-image elements. So, let's relaunch the Chrome application to allow these changes to take effect And then load up the Amazon website. You'll see it's rendered in a nice Dark Theme, and all of the features you'd expect to work in the website will work here as well. Step by Step Tutorial ~~~~~ 1. Intro 2.
