"Back for Good" parody adaptation by the Marsh Family of Take That's "Back for Good" (about hacking)

This was a video we released earlier in the week (on Patreon and Facebook), when we were extremely delighted and relieved to announce that we were finally back in control of our Facebook page! For those who didn't know, we fell for one of those horrendous online ruses, and lost all admin rights, and it appeared for over a month that we had become obsessed with Elon Musk, spam videos, adverts, and a range of 'hilarious' viral clips involving sexism, abuse to animals, and other nonsense. We hadn't, but we couldn't do anything about it, and it was awful. It’s taken over a month to resolve, but we got there in the end, so we shared this new song to PROVE that it was us and to mark the moment that we are back, hopefully for good. Naturally, we borrowed the phrase and the tone and the song from the iconic Take That track "Back for Good", written by Gary Barlow and released in 1995, which went straight to UK No. 1 and was their only big early hit in the US. Don't panic: we have not become obsessed by boy ballads. In fact, if this one has to be pulled (like Lockdown World was), then we are much more excited about the original song that we're developing about the subject, which is more of a hard rock vibe, and is called "Mother Hackers." Thanks so much to everyone for your huge number of lovely messages of support, your warnings and updates through other platforms (including in comments here), and your bringing pressure to bear on Facebook/Meta. To be honest, we don’t think the last bit helped directly because their systems and efforts have been shocking – but it definitely helped us a lot, and made us keep trying in spite of a lot of emotional and a bit of financial trauma. We’re really sorry if you ended up watching or seeing things on Facebook that appeared to be from us, as we were totally and utterly helpless to prevent it. And we have huge sympathy for everyone else who’s had this happen to them, and lost access, memories, and contacts (so many people!!). We were sad that we lost around 4,000 of our original followers on Facebook, so that’s who we are aiming this video at – do spread the word that we are back in action there. And if you miss the spammers' pictures of animals killing one another, sexist drivel, craven adverts, rudeness, filth, Elon Musk memes, and undecipherable mayhem, then we’ve got summer holidays coming up soon, so we’re sure we can cover at least some of those bases… ________________________ Thanks as ever to the people who support our musical antics through Patreon (where you can see extras like the pitiful out-takes from "You're Dutiful"):   / marshfamilysongs   Do join us there, or just leave a tip at our tip jar at: https://paypal.me/marshfamilysongs. _________________________ Lyrics here: I guess it was time for you to give up. And unsubscribe. Getting pictures that horrified you. Bunch of dipsticks hawking junk (or Elon Musk) You got pissed with the promotions. Thought we’d shared the hackers’ memes Thought you’d leave us, thought you’d leave us all behind now Whatever they said, whatever they did, we didn’t mean it. We just want you back for good The spammers have gone. So follow our songs, and we’ll sing it It’s all right – our page is good. We want you back for good Unaware of their designs, Mum bought their story [oh no]. It wasn’t good [no no] But in a menopausal mind [menopausal mind] They kinda seemed trustworthy But that was not to be. Little shits of devastation They expelled us from the scene. Now it’s time to stop them ruining our feed Whatever they said, whatever they did, we didn’t mean it. [Whatever they tried to sell you] We just want you back for good The spammers have gone. [They made it so hard to tell you] So follow our songs, and we’ll sing it It’s all right – our page is good. We want you back for good And we’ve taken measures, To ward off transgressors [it’s better now] We’re inviting those who severed what they see. Not to mute, not to block, But to follow and be buddies again [Chorus repeats] We guess now it’s time that you came back for good _______________________________ Special thanks dedicated to our amazing Howlers on Patreon for their ongoing support: Andy Riches Carol Leff Cliff Hope Dave Lee David Patrao Derrick Brown Grandad Lew Michael & Emily Guadagno Sandy W.
