I'm not sure who ran the segment about movies, but anyways, this afternoon was complete chaos. Distances are approximate, because radio-locator.com still thinks I'm in Minitare, Nebraska (I'm actually back in Cheyenne) This recording was from around 3:53pm, as Es rolled in. The overarching story here is stations on top of stations. I could barely go a full minute before a new station overtook the "old" skip. Starting around 4pm MDT, I noted a station on 89.5, CCM, which was then fighting with an NPR station. The CCM turned out to be WBCY Archbold, Ohio. Then, I noticed the same weirdness on 89.9, 90.5, and 90.7. I got a nice clear "It's 5:32 at Wisconsin Public Radio" (they are one hour ahead of me) before it to was replaced with another station on 90.7. WPR was 90.7 WHAD Milwauke (re-log) 850 mi On 91.3, CCM and NPR battle it out again, but thanks to a weather forecast, I pulled in WCSG Grand Rapids, Michigan (912.5 mi) The highlight of the event: On 92.3, local KYOY was blown out by a plethora of competing stations. It's translator was still playing the correct music on 107.1, however 92.3 itself showed no sign of the local. I heard a lady say something like X92.3 or Kiss or something. It led me to KMXD or Mix 92.3 out of Detroit. However, the station was clearly Top-40, not Smooth Jazz. The lady even mentioned "Chris Brown". Still not sure what the station is. And to top it all off, a station on 90.5 identifies as WCXX. That would be 102.3 or 105.5, right? Could it be double hop? Weird. Around 5:07, the skip was still in on 89.5.
