Unexpectedly, Silas was released by Billy the Kid, his one-time comrade in arms, who had broke free with a hidden gun. Silas escaped the prison through the rooftop. Unable to sneak his way out, he blasted through the town killing everyone hostile on his path, with a shotgun he took from Sheriff Bob Ollinger's office. According to Silas, most of the townfolks mistook him for Billy due to similar build and skintone they shared. Before Silas could reach the stable to find a getaway horse, he was stopped by an angry Bob Ollinger who challenged him into a duel, which Silas won. As a result, Silas successfully escaped, and continued his bounty hunting career. Despite his liberation, Silas, in hindsight, was not particularly greatful for Billy for saving him. He believed Billy was merely using him as a distraction for his own escape.
