There’s no such thing. Now, moving on, when it comes to training, a lot of you ask me about diet, training, volume and how that all plays into my daily routine especially after cancer and the removal of my lung last year. If anything, I’ve hit the gas harder. What I’ve proven repeatedly is that outside of the extremes, the human body is DESIGNED to get stronger, faster and more muscular, forever. There is no cap on your ability to continually gain strength and physical ability relative to your age. Let me explain. The likelihood of an 83 year old man or woman stacking on 20-40 pounds of beef in the form of lean muscle, is very slim. However, those same two people, can very effectively stay strong and lean until they expire. And just to avoid any confusion, for every article, research paper, anecdotal blog that’s posted to support something, there are an equal number of the same information sources to discredit the identical information. So here’s how to differentiate all of it. Does the source of the information match the information itself? When you do it, does it hurt? Are you making progress towards where you want to go? Are you INCREASING your health? Because anyone anywhere can spin anything to suit their ultimate narrative. My wife and I have been athletes for most of our lives, and yet both of our parents are not even close to athletic. IT’S NOT GENETICS. Moving on. What I’ve decided to do is post my actual workout routine throughout the month, including what I eat, when I train specific body parts, how I train specific body parts, and what is actually working. I’m 49 years old, and 10 months ago, I spent 6 weeks in and out of the hospital where ultimately, I had my left lung removed, a cancer mass the size of a volleyball removed, and told that I would be on oxygen for the rest of my life. I was told that physical training at this level was out of reach and not possible. The workout that I’m giving you guys here today, is part of a typical training day. Yep, it is challenging AF, it gassed me out, and I had plenty of struggle points. I kept picking up the barbell, getting back into the workout, and did what I set out to do, which was finish the session. This is a great total body workout, and no, it is not the ultimate total body workout, but it’s a savage total body workout anyway. A quick breakdown of how I train: Move heavy things slowly Move heavy things quickly Move light things slowly Move light things quickly Train midline often Keep my core 10 exercises in each week Change the speed, length, and intensity of my training all the time. And the most important one. I’m consistent AF.
