Did John the Apostle Not Believe in the Virgin Birth?

In a recent interview with Michael Shermer, Bart Ehrman suggests the author of John wasn't aware of the virgin birth or possibly even rejected it. He bases this on a reading of John 8:41, which I argue is out of context. Bart is making a bad exegetical argument by ignoring the context on top of an already weak argument from silence.
