Kebler Pass Fall Color 2024 | Colorado 4k Drone Footage

Enjoy these beautiful views from Kebler Pass, Colorado, one of the best places for fall color in the USA. All footage in this video was taken on October 1, 2024. Kebler Pass is home to one of the largest single living organisms on the planet. Scientists have discovered that aspen trees can reproduce by sending up root shoots that appear to be separate trees, but can actually be connected via the root system. Entire hillsides of aspens can sometimes actually be the same organism, all connected underground. The aspen grove on Kebler Pass is known to be one of the largest such 'single organisms' on earth; how cool is that?! This video starts just north of Gunnison, Colorado, showing the beautiful golden colors of the cottonwood trees along the banks of the Gunnison River. Almost the entire valley around Gunnison was near peak color on this day. Next we travel north towards Crested Butte, Colorado for a few short clips, followed by a drive up and over Kebler Pass on County Road 12 in between Crested Butte and Paonia. This was near (if not, full) peak color for this area in Colorado, and it was such a treat getting to experience it as such. In case you're not able to get to experience Colorado in the fall, sit back and enjoy these serene views of this magical area. True peak fall color only lasts about a week or so, and is one of the most fleeting experiences. No matter what time of year it is, it is always a joy to see the changing of the leaves. Enjoy!
