ORPHAN: FIRST KILL (2022) - THE SEQUEL IS BETTER THAN THE FIRST!? Mom & Daughter First Time Watching

ANOTHER TWIST WE DID NOT SEE COMING! Tessa Smith (Mama's Geeky) and her daughter Lorie are back with another Mom & Daughter Reacts, and this time we’re watching Orphan: First Kill for the very first time — and WOW… we might have loved it even MORE than the original! Going into this prequel, we definitely had concerns. First, since Isabelle Fuhrman is reprising the role so many years later, we were worried she might look too old to convincingly pull off Esther again. And second, because this is a prequel, we thought we already knew the story — meaning there wouldn’t be a shocking twist like the first film. Let’s just say… we were VERY wrong. Not only does Isabelle Fuhrman absolutely nail the physicality, voice, and mannerisms of Esther again, but the filmmakers did an impressive job making everything feel believable. And the twist? COMPLETELY unexpected. The reveal that the brother AND the mom were involved in the real daughter’s death was absolutely CRAZY and flipped the entire movie on its head. We did not see that coming at all. This movie takes the psychological horror and dark humor up a notch, creating a tense cat-and-mouse dynamic that kept us glued to the screen. The power shifts, the manipulation, and the escalating chaos made this such a wild ride from start to finish. We were on edge during Esther’s arrival to the family, the subtle clues that something wasn’t adding up, the jaw-dropping reveal about the daughter’s death, the shifting power dynamic between Esther and the mom, and the intense, chaotic final confrontation that left us speechless. Orphan: First Kill features a fantastic cast, including Isabelle Fuhrman (The Hunger Games, Orphan) returning as Esther, Julia Stiles (10 Things I Hate About You, Save the Last Dance) as Tricia Albright, and Rossif Sutherland (The Handmaid’s Tale, Reign) as Allen Albright.
