Suicide bomber kills 3 in northwest Pakistan

Mid of ambulance near the scene STORYLINE Police said a suicide bomber set off explosives next to a vehicle owned by the Afghan religious leader of a madrasa (Islamic religious school) on Friday in Peshawar, in northwestern Pakistan. Rescue workers carried bodies from the scene of the blast, that left three people dead. The leader, Haji Hayatullah, was not harmed in the attack because he was in a nearby mosque attending Friday prayers. "It looks like the main target was the leader of the madrasa. He is safe but two men, including his guard, were martyred," said Peshawar police deputy commissioner Javeed Marwat. Marwat added that another man had been taken to hospital with serious injuries. Peshawar police said a passerby was also killed and two others were wounded. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. There are over 1 (m) million refugees in Pakistan from neighbouring Afghanistan.
