Crime rate claim disputed: Violent crimes down but carjackings, robberies surge

Former Commissioner Micheal Harrison was very candid in an op-ed about his time as Baltimore city's top cop. In it, he says violent crimes are down 16% across the city since he took office four years ago. However, after a deeper look at the numbers, carjackings are currently at 230 for the year and robberies at more than 1400, according to Baltimore Police crime stats.
