In 2018, the first of a new class of migraine prevention agents was FDA approved for use. This class of medications, anti-CGRP (calcitonin gene-related peptide inhibitors), now has five medications that can be used for migraine prevention. Four of these medications are CGRP monoclonal antibodies, and one is a CGRP receptor antagonist. There are two medications for acute use, both of which are CGRP receptor antagonists. We aim in this video to give an overview of this class of medications, to include dosing and use in both prevention and acute migraine treatment.
