Will Scout’s Hybrid Design Make Other Trucks Obsolete?

Scout Motors is getting closer to bringing its lineup of rugged EVs to a driveway near you. While the Scout Terra and Scout Traveler are technically still concepts, we wanted to find out how close this truck and SUV are to the vehicles you will be able to buy. We also wondered exactly how Scout's gasoline-powered range extender would work because this technology just might be the secret to the automaker's success in a very crowded marketplace. Beyond that, how expensive will Scout plug-in hybrids be and how capable? With full-size electric trucks from Ford and Ram both being shelved in recent months, will Scout face the same fate? In order to get to the bottom of these questions and many others, we talked to Ryan Decker, VP of Strategy & Brand, as well as Chris Benjamin, Chief Design Officer. Additionally, for an outsider's perspective, Craig Cole interviews Sam Abuelsamid, VP of Market Research at Telemetry to get his perspective on launching a new car brand. 👉 Check out our Buyer’s Guide at https://apps.greencars.com/buyers-guide 🔔 Subscribe for luxury EV reviews, performance tests, and more Chapters 0:00 Introduction 0:57 What is Scout Motors? 2:21 Talking Design 3:29 Scout Traveler Proportions 4:23 Form Language 6:02 Front-End Styling 7:49 Rear Design Cues 9:02 Interior Design Overview 10:40 Scout Terra Design & Accessories 12:43 Inside the Terra 14:20 Infotainment & UI 16:19 Concept vs. Production 17:23 Why No Round Lights? 18:23 Reviving Scout Brand 20:14 An Uphill Battle? 22:06 The Body-on-Frame Approach 23:39 An Odd EREV Decision 24:50 Critical Specs 26:33 Which Model is More Popular? 28:21 A Dealer-Free Sales Model 31:30 Automotive Analyst's Insight 33:53 Is the Engine Down There? 34:54 Towing Comparison 36:38 Too Expensive for Buyers? 37:26 Scout Outlook 38:28 Conclusions #ScoutMotors #ElectricSUV #ElectricTruck
