Changing rigs completely turned this day around in Sarasota Bay. I started the trip targeting Black Drum using a heavier one-ounce sinker because of the depth and fast-moving current in this area. After spending a long time without any bites, I decided to move and switch to a much lighter rig using a small split shot and live shrimp. That decision immediately paid off. The lighter rig helped me locate schools of Sheepshead feeding in shallower water where the current wasn’t overpowering. Once I found them, the bites came consistently, and I was able to load up the Autopilot 120 kayak with keeper Sheepshead. The lighter weight allowed the bait to drift naturally and triggered more strikes compared to the heavier setup. This video was filmed in Sarasota Bay at Big Pass, the inlet that connects the Gulf of Mexico to the Intracoastal Waterway. Every year from November through March, Sheepshead migrate into this area, with March being the peak of the spawn and the best month to catch them. During this time, they will hit a variety of baits including live shrimp, fiddler crabs, mud crabs, and barnacles. If you fish inlets, passes, or shallow structure during sheepshead season, adjusting your rig to match the depth and current can make a huge difference. 🎣 More Sheepshead Fishing Videos → • Sheepshead Fishing Tips #sheepsheadfishing #kayakfishing #sarasotabay ✅ You Can Help Support This Channel On Patreon / radreelingfishing My Awesome Kayak http://bit.ly/oldtown_sportsman_radre...
