Guitar theory part 1: Major scale construction: the backbone of all theory

This series of videos is aimed at guitarists who can already play to varying levels and want to delve deeper, understand more and use more of the guitar neck in any key. Most guitarists learn the pentatonic scale before any other and this makes sense as it gets you playing cool stuff quicker, but at some point you'll want to know more and the hows and whys behind all your favourite music. We begin with a look at how to construct a major scale with tones and semitones and why the major scale is the crucial first step in understanding all music theory. Note that the scale diagram shows an optional extra note on the 7th fret of the low E-string. I tend to omit this unless I'm improvising and want it as a bonus note.
