Baldev Chager and Gareth Dawe driving a Kabras Porsche 911 thought they had won the third edition of the East African Mini Safari, and Chager was already celebrating a hatrick of wins in the edition, but the Stewards have thrown the biggest bombshell in the history of the Historic event when they excluded the Porsche from the rally. That meant second placed Piers Daykin and Tariq Malik moved to the Number one spot and become the second ever crew to win a historic event in a Datsun in the history of the Historic series in the the country since the legend Rob Collinge won the second of his two wins in 2005 in the same Datsun 280Z which Daykin was driving but again the drama continued Daykin and Malik have also been excluded from rally. According the the event Stewards both Chager and Daykin had deviated from the defined rally route in the 58km Singore / Chebiemet stage, the penultimate stage of the event, at the 31km mark, a deviation of 6.57km. Debutant Remos Vos from Netherlands is the surprise winner of the event. His co- driver Stephane Prevot becoming the second co- driver to bag victory in the larger and Mini edition of the Classic Safari. Its also the first win for the Tuthill Porsche team. Raaji Bharij and Geoff Bell claimed the second and third spot respectively in the Ford Escort and Datsun 280Z respectivel to spoil top three result for the Porsches.
