#1 Tracey Mertens In mid-December 1994, Tracey Ann Mertens moved with her partner Joey and their two children to Rochdale, England. Tracey was described as a good mother to her children but often fought with Joey, who was addicted to heroin at the time. On Thursday the 22nd of December 1994, Tracey headed back to her old house in the neighbourhood of Birmingham to pick up a benefits book. Tracey had originally planned for a short trip but ended up spending the night at her sister-in-law's house. The next day, Tracey returned to her old home at Cattell's Grove around 11:50am. After only spending 10 minutes inside the house, Tracey heard a knock at the door. When she answered, two men, grabbed, blindfolded and forced her into the back seat of a yellow Ford Escort Mk2. The men drove for over an hour before stopping at a churchyard in Eaton, Chesire. The two men then proceeded to douse Tracey in petrol, set her alight and leave her for dead. #2 Cynthia Warrick On the afternoon of May 18, 1969, 10-year-old Cynthia Warrick left her New Haven, Indiana home to go out and play. It was 3:30pm and Cynthia planned to walk to the local drugstore, a popular place in town where kids went to browse the comic books, buy candy, and use the payphone to call friends. When she failed to return home on time later that evening, Cynthia’s parents, Ruth and Billie Warrick assumed Cynthia was at a friends house. At 3:30pm on May 18th, 1969 10-year-old Cynthia Warrick left her home in New Haven Indiana planning to walk to the local drugstore. The drugstore was a popular place for kids in the area to spend hours hanging out, reading comic books and buying candy. The fourth-grade student was the youngest of three siblings and the only daughter of the family was described as a “tomboy” and “daredevil”. Less than a week before Cynthia had broken her wrist jumping from a swing at her neighbour's house. As the afternoon turned to evening and Cynthia failed to return home, Cynthia's parents, Ruth and Billie Warrick, first assumed Cynthia was at a friend's house. But by 11pm, the family grew concerned as Cynthia had failed to return home or contact them and called the police to report her missing.
