Shan Wu: Georgia state Prosecutors in the Ahmaud Arbery trial seem to have made a strategic decision not to focus on racial animus as a motive for Travis McMichael, his father Gregory McMichael, and William "Roddy" Brian to have chased Ahmaud Arbery, a black man, in their trucks and cornered him before Travis McMichael shot and murdered him. The nearly all-white jury has heard little evidence about the confederate emblem on the truck and the racial slur used after Arbery was killed. Prosecution may be afraid to make race an issue before an all-white jury, but I think that hate needs to be called out as hate. Their reluctance to give the jury a motive for murder may come back to haunt them if there is an acquittal. ..................................................................................................................................................................
