Number 848 of only 1550 made and one of the 150 Indy 500 Pace Cars for the race…. Pontiac sure got it right with this version of the Trans Am. With a unique Turbocharged 3.8 Liter V6 under the hood, this Brid was the best performing since the 455 Super Duties. Pontiac under rated these boosted T/As at 250 HP and 345 lb ft of torque. These super sixes could get to 60mhp in 4.6 seconds and though the ¼ mile in 13.4 seconds. There’s no surprise this Trans Am has no problem pacing the 1989 Indianapolis 500. It is rumored that this was the first pace car that didn’t need any performance modifications to keep up. They simply installed a light bar and the communication equipment and sent it out on the track. This example is a well-maintained beauty with only a little over 9000 miles. Sounding great with the stainless-steel exhaust makes for a fun driving experience. The vehicle drives as tightly as you’d expect for such a low mileage vehicle. The white paint is in great shape as well as the camel leather interior. It sports the classic gold diamond spoke wheels which were the style for the period. This modern classic is a collectible as well as a great driver car. The performance is great, the rush of the turbo is exhilarating, and the modern driving technology makes this car very desirable.
