Ship historian, Karl Zingheim, is back at it on June 30 at 12:30 p.m. PDT, with a special episode of Destination Midway celebrating the USS Midway Museum’s birthday! Seventeen years ago, the USS Midway Museum opened its doors to the public. Since 2004, more than 16 million guests, military members and school students have been educated, inspired and entertained exploring the hallowed decks of America’s Living Symbol of Freedom. It took the imagination, hard work and passion of a group of unrelenting visionaries to transform Midway from a Navy warship into the world’s premiere floating naval ship museum. Scott McGaugh, Sara Hanscom, Laurie Switzer and Jill Hammons are part of the force behind Midway’s success.
