Kremlin-backed Insurgents Mistreat Prisoners: Captured Ukrainian servicemen forced into labor

Kremlin-backed insurgents in east Ukraine have been using captured Ukrainian soldiers as a free labour force. As many as 140 prisoners were made to clear up the wreckage of a building destroyed by shelling. Insurgents overseeing the captives said they were there "to learn a lesson." The revelations regarding forced labour will do little to ease concerns over the mistreatment of the more than 800 Ukrainian soldiers and civilians who still remain in the captivity of Kremlin-backed insurgents.
