Happening Now: Massive Emergency Yellow Fever Vaccination in DR Congo

One of the largest emergency vaccinations conducted in Africa is currently underway to stop an outbreak of yellow fever that started in Angola in January and spread to the DRC. Over 10 million people will be vaccinated in the Democratic Republic of Congo within ten days, including the residents of the entire city of Kinshasa, a sprawling, densely populated megalopolis with weak infrastructure. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins sans Frontières (MSF) is mobilizing considerable resources to support the Congolese authorities in their wide-scale campaign against yellow fever. In order to protect close about 800.000 Kinois against the disease, or 10% of the capital city’s 9 million vaccination target. http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/...
