Burning For Buddy Rich*Centennial Celebration-Ken Loomer Big Band

September 2017 marks the 100th birthday year of the world`s greatest drummer and Big Band leader Buddy Rich. For Buddy ,it was always about the music first. With his dynamic drumming,he made the music feel great and always made the band play better with his drumming. This is what I learned the most from Buddy to always hire the best musicians and give it all you got to the music. In honor of Buddy`s Centennial year, I`m playing one of his burning charts"Sister Sadie". Never heard another Big Band play this arrangement that Jay Corre wrote for Buddy Rich. Taking the exciting tenor sax solo is Austin Vickrey. In the Buddy Style,I did my 8 bar drum break in fast singles with accents to drive the band into the shout chorus. Every major drummer from Gregg Potter, Dave Weckl,Steve Smith,Thomas Lang,Peter Erskine,Neil Peart, and so many others have learned from Buddy on how to drive a band. I`m doing what I can to keep this Big Band music alive for the people of today to hear. I know Buddy would love the fact that a drummer like me is doing the hard work of having a Bid Band and keeping some of his music alive today. So lets all celebrate the life and times of the great Buddy Rich on his 100th birthday year! for my bio,go to kenloomer.com.
