Steve Everson is driving Marcus Bicknell's Ford Taurus Ascar "Joey" in the Classic & Modern Motorsport Club Southern's Tin Tops & Super Saloons on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit on Saturday 13 August 2022. Have a look at Steve's battles with Peter Seldon and Peter Osborne and a near incident with overlapped cars at Westfield on the last lap. Steve finished 6th Steve qualified 10th with a 1'46.574. He got down to 1'43.079 in Race 2. 32 cars on track. This video is he Race 1, 15 minutes, complete. This car was built in 1999 for the ASCAR series at Rockingham which ended in 2010. Raced by John Mickel at Rockingham 2001-2005 with TorqueSpeed racing. He also raced it in the USA and made some of the mods there. The Ford body was placed on by John Mickel in his last season, 2005, The car was raced by Duncan Gray (No.31) after John Mickel. ASCAR 2001 2002 2003 Days of Thunder 2004 SCSA 2005 2006 2007 VSR V8 Trophy 2008 The original Chevy LS3 carb engine was replaced by Marcus in 2019 with a Chevy LS3 6.2 litre V8 376/525 crate engine and tuned to 540bhp @and 6,300 rpm and 475 lb.-ft. @ 4,400 rpm by Emerald tuning. Mods for 2022 included a specially-built alloy brace for the rear axle to prevent to twisting and shearing which gave us such problems, and, for this mid-August meeting, a second battery to help starting when hot and the bonnet lifted by an inch to improve cooling of the injector rail etc. My thanks to Jo-Anne Harding for the thumbnail image of Steve at work.
