Unlike other cities Durga Puja celebration starts here from Mahalaya itself. Pandal hopping starts from Chaturthi approx. Due to Navratri Puja at my home I often don't get time and energy to visit pandals as much as I want. I with my family and friends started parallel hopping from soshti(6th day). I tried hard to visit the south kolkata pandals but since I live in North Kolkata it is a bit difficult to get time and manage for it. Creative pandals of south kolkata are on rankings and famous every year but this year North Kolkata has few famous pandals like Twin Tower in Kalyani, Red Fort in Sealdah, Vatican City in Sreebhumi.....and others. The last day that is Dashmi is very heartbreaking experience for all the Durga Puja lovers. It is very difficult to make eye contact with Durga maa's Idol, it just seems like she is about to cry and don't want to leave. People enjoy during the Visarjan in the loud music but the sadness is hidden behind. Durga Puja is my favourite festival and the favourite time period of the whole year, this is my sadness period right now as Pooja is over.
