Magnetic Hill | Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada

Optical illusion or not, this road right here is a must experience in Moncton, New Brunswick! For over 80 years, what has come to be known as Magnetic Hill has baffled millions. When it was first built, early drivers noticed that they had to pick up speed at the base of the ridge to prevent from rolling back up the road. A local amusement at the time, it has evolved to attract visitors from all over the world. These days, drivers pay a small fee and take turns driving to the white pole, seemingly at the bottom of the small hill where they’re told to then put the vehicle in neutral and take their foot off the gas. What happens is the vehicle then appears to roll backwards, up the hill. Before you know the car speeds up to 20km an hour and when you’re going backwards it’s a pretty strange feeling. Up or down, it doesn’t matter - it’s a natural phenomenon that will leave you wondering what just happened. Connect With Me Online!
