Bar owner, concerned neighbors react after double homicide outside College Hill bar

COLLEGE HILL, Ohio (WKRC) - The owner of a bar says his place is being unfairly blamed for a double homicide Sunday morning. Two men were shot and killed outside the new Rustic Tavern on Galbraith Road in College Hill. The new Rustic Tavern is located where College Hill, North College Hill and Springfield Township come together, but bar owner Darrick Moore says his place is being unfairly blamed for pulling everything apart. "At the end of the day, I really feel like it's a losing battle. Anything and everything that the Cincinnati Police Department has instructed us to do, we have. We have went above and beyond. We have a new 18-channel camera system that anybody can have access to it. We have security lights in the front of the building as well as up to the top hill.," Moore said. Twenty-eight-year-old Steven Anderson Jr. and 29-year-old Nathaniel Davis were shot and killed outside the bar early Sunday morning. Moore says, contrary to previous reports, there never was any altercation that started inside the bar and spilled outside. He says his video camera security tapes prove that. Pointing to the video, Moore describes what was going on inside at the time, "You see the same girl dancing, listening to music. You don't see any altercation at the front of the bar." Moore then pointed to video from what was happening outside, "But this is when guys get into an altercation on the side [of the bar]." But even if the bar itself is blameless, some neighbors say the intersection where it's located has seen far too many problems. "It's not just what happened the other night, it's been a progressive issue over the last number of years," said Tim Dunn of Lifespring Christian Church. "And it's been everything from fights to obviously drug deals to the shootings. And there have been multiple shootings." The church leader and the bar owner may have some common ground, though. This area is among three separate jurisdictions, and both Moore and Dunn say nobody seems to be in charge, so nothing gets done. "Without help from the city, without help from the police or without help from the community, it's a hopeless cause," Moore said. "And at this point, we can get anyone to kind of pay attention, you know, let us know what is it we can do," Dunn said. The suspect in the double homicide has not been caught.
