I’ve been binge watching the HBO series Six Feet Under, and they use this technique a lot. Those shots always stood out to me so I researched it and found that one way to get this super deep depth of field is to use a split focus filter. Lots of movies from the 1970s had cool split focus shots. Movies like Carrie, Jaws, All the Presidents Men, and even older films like Citizen Kane. Quentin Tarantino loves them as well as Brian DePalma (check out Blowout!), and Orson Wells. I got this one on eBay for 36.00, but you can spend more money to get much higher quality ones.
