These are my 1970 Slingerland Buddy Rich 80N drum set that just has that full open warm sound. It`s the best sounding drums I have ever played. This has the big 14x24 inch bass drum that sounds so full and powerful with this wide open tuning. I know John Bonham used a wide open tuning on his bass drum which to me always sounded great. The other drums is a 9x13 tom, two 16 x 16 inch floor tom, and the amazing Artist model 5.5x14 inch snare drum. All drums have the wonderful 3 ply shell, maple, poplar, maple with the rock maple re-enforcing rings on them. It`s because of these shells that makes the sound of these drums so great with this type of wide open tuning. I use these drums all the time with my Ken Loomer Big Band. Here is a video you can check out of me playing these Slingerland drums with my Big Band • Ken Loomer Big Band- Love For Sale- Ken Lo... In this drum solo workout, you can hear the full open tone of each drum so clearly. The bass drum is so powerful, yet have that warm sound playing a real note, not just a dead sound. The Artist snare drum sounds so clear with great rim shots that projects so well. These classic Slingerland drums are some of the best sounding drums of all time.
