Sinfonia No. 12 in A major, BWV 798

Sinfonia No. 12 in A major, BWV 798

The first half of the subject only consists of three pitches surrounding the tonic, but the momentum builds up instantly in the second half, expanding the narrow range to a twelfth that defies all expectations. During the development the same accompaniment of the keyboardist in Brandenburg Concerto No. 5 is employed. A piece of humble beginnings is thus turned into one of the most festive in the collection. The BACH motif occurs in the alto voice of bb.13-14. ~~~~~~~~~~ Sinfonia No. 12 in A major, BWV 798 by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) Piano: Ruoshi Sun (2025) on CLP-785 Temperament: Werckmeister
