CHOPIN Etude op 10 no 12 by concert pianist Stephanie ELBAZ

CHOPIN Etude op 10 no 12 by concert pianist Stéphanie ELBAZ This Frédéric Chopin etude op 10 n 12 in C minor is a study for solo piano, which was first published in 1833 and is also known as "Revolutionary", in reference to the Cadet Revolution of 1830-1831 and subsequent Russo-Polish war. Chopin was deeply affected by the taking of Warsaw and wrote this etude Allegro con fuoco in reaction thereto. He felt desperate and helpless when his country was needing him most, especially because his poor health condition was not allowing him to take part to the conflict. He therefore converted all of his frustration, rage and sadness into this emotionally intense study, which concludes his opus 10 in a masterful way. Composer Robert Schumann paid a tribute to Chopin’s great ability to transcribe such strong feelings, by stating that "the works of Chopin are cannons concealed amongst flowers".
