152 bricks of heroin confiscated in Edgecombe County drug bust

A man was arrested Wednesday in a drug bust led by the Edgecombe County Sheriff’s Office. The Narcotics Division and Special Response Team executed a search warrant at a house on Windsor Drive in Rocky Mount. This was part of an ongoing investigation into the sale of heroin and cocaine. The target of the investigation was Eugene M. Jenkins of Marlee Drive in Rocky Mount. This investigation took place over several months in which the Narcotics Division coordinated and completed numerous controlled buys of heroin from the residence. When deputies entered the home, the occupants attempted to flee from the back door. They were taken into custody without incident. After searching the home, deputies found 152 Bricks of heroin (roughly 7,600 individual bindles of heroin), 84 grams of cocaine, 35 grams of marijuana, a .22 Caliber semi-automatic pistol, approximately $2,500 in U.S. currency, numerous glassine bags for packaging heroin, stamps used for marking heroin bags and numerous digital scales. The street value of the narcotics seized is roughly $65,000. Jenkins is currently being held at the Edgecombe County Detention Center on a secured bond of more than $1 million.
