The first American entry on the on-going list of cars to upload, I present the 2001 Acura Integra Type-R (DC2)... well, still Japanese but with an aim at the North American market, it is a rebadge of the Honda Integra after all. The Integra Type-R is proof that smart technology isn't always the answer to producing a fun, good looking, simple and reliable car for down hill enthusiasts. The Integra Type-R has a B18C DOHC VTEC unit that produces 197hp and was introduced in 1995 to the Japanese Domestic Market and coupled to a close-ratio five speed transmission, a Helical LSD and massively improved handling in comparison to other, lesser-performing trim levels. More on the list, the Type-R variant received an overload of extensive changes, including a strengthened chassis with extra spot welds and thicker metal around the rear shock towers and lower subframe, weight reduction (reduced sound insulation, thinner glass for the windscreen and lighter alloys), increased power and a limiter set to 8,600RPM, but 8,500RPM for the USDM based Acura. More on the Acura itself, it had the came engine but instead had 195hp, and able to produce 130ft-lb of torque. It weighs 1,197kg, with 62% of that weight at the front, so it's got a heavy nose but for good reason. The quad headlights have remained on all USDM Integra models and had not been changed since the third generation Integra had debuted in 1993, but the JDM Integra did receive a face-lift with elongated headlights, a small grille intake and a revised front bumper. The USDM Integra was also left-hand drive. Despite the slight physical differences, it's still more proof that the Japanese can create such a car so good that in actual fact, it is regarded as one of the best sports cars of the nineties, being able to punch well above its weight with the likes of turbocharged, four wheel drive cars, such as the Nissan Skyline GT-R and SUBARU Impreza of the time. My version has very little modifications done and I wanted to show how good the car is, so I left the suspension components be but added a couple upgrades to the engine to enhance its sound and power.
