Some one-sided limits are no different than two-sided limits when evaluating, but many require a new method to evaluate that involves checking values close to the x value of interest. Thus, we will encounter examples that result in infinite limits, where the limit at a particular point is not a finite number, but rather infinity or negative infinity. This includes two-sided limits where none of the previously learned methods of evaluating limits can be used. We also look at a limit of a function that contains the greatest integer function, to help with understanding the usefulness of one-sided limits. Also, we look at an example that explicitly uses the properties of infinite limits, including the sum and difference properties, product property, and quotient property. This course is designed to help students understand the concepts of calculus at a grounded level.
