The High Halls were my second favorite area in Silksong and were carried almost entirely by the music. I don't know how much Team Cherry is paying Christopher Larkin but it is not enough. The piece is so lyrical, the flute and oboe sound so lovely together, it matches the scenery of the Halls with the flowing water perfectly, and after years of working exclusively with the Ocarina of Time harp this piece reminded me of how gorgeous a real harp can sound. If only the gameplay could compare to the music! I almost gave up on this game because of that fucking gauntlet! Hollow Knight combat challenges were so fun (usually)! Team Cherry what happened! I continued my trend of getting creative with my covers, of course. I'm proud of the entire thing (obviously, otherwise I wouldn't have recorded it), but especially from 2:07 to the end and ESPECIALLY especially the phrase restating the flute solo at around 2:39; the dissonance between the A and Eb is just so hauntingly beautiful. The second half could have used more time in the oven - there were a lot of pauses, some of them just barely not worth a splice - but I had to rush to get this out before the semester ended and I lost access to the practice rooms. Shoutout to the drummer in the next room over making some of my takes unlistenable! Original Song: • High Halls ‐ Hollow Knight Silksong OST Of... Sheet Music: https://musescore.com/user/32992441/s...
